Painting in watercolour is like an adventurer's quest, take one path and you will discover brilliant, gem-like colours, another path will lead you into a mire of colour-less mud. The difference is knowing how watercolour works and how different pigments react when mixed together.
I hope, that here, beginners will find guidance - away from the mire and muddy path, armed with newly aquired knowledge of well tried and practical techniques, to a realm where colours can glow.
Including advice on choosing watercolour brushes and watercolour paper. |

MILWICH WATERCOLOUR SOCIETY:
Milwich Watercolour Society was founded in 1994 by Gordon Broomfield for the sole purpose of teaching people, who were interested in watercolour painting, in the country area around Milwich how to paint in watercolour.
From beginners to people who have started to paint on their own, but feel they have failed or were intimidated by the medium and wish to start again.
Our tutor is renowned Country artist Anthony Forster, a professional for 30 years with many of his paintings reproduced as fine art limited edition prints by his publishers Hood and Broomfield Fine Art.
His work concentrates on landscapes, farming and livestock scenes, but in the Milwich Watercolour Society painting classes, he unfolds many aspects, including wildlife, flowers, river and coastal, Welsh and Scottish Highland scenes and there is always a Winter snow scene - showing a landscape cloaked in snow on a bright sunny day.
You will be amazed with the journey you will take through all these subjects using a variety of techniques, painting along with Anthony in stages.
You will improve and gain confidence.
We will teach you:
An easy to use drawing style for your pictures.
Wet in wet techniques.
Dry brush.
You will go on to add buildings in your landscape - to give perspective and a focal point to the painitng.
Water with reflections.
All watercolour paper, brushes and paints can be purchased from the class at very reasonable prices on the night.
Colour printouts of the various stages of each project painting we work on are given to each student.
Access to the Watercolour class website member's pages through user name and password which is provided each term, allowing the students to catch up if any class meeting is missed.
Classes start September through to Decemeber usually 12 weeks.
Start again in January through to April again 12 twelve weeks.
Classes start at 7:30pm to 9:30pm on Thursday evenings except the 4th. Thursday of the month when it switches to Friday, a calendar of class meeting dates is provided on the first night - current calendar is shown below.
Ample free car parking.
